About BackgroundMute
BackgroundMute automatically mutes audio from applications running in the background while preserving sound from the active window. This helps keep attention on one foreground application when other programs might otherwise play sounds at the same time. The product is suited to situations such as gaming, streaming, or focused work, where incidental audio from another process can interfere with the main activity. It changes audio behavior according to which application is in the foreground, rather than requiring the user to mute each background program manually. BackgroundMute’s scope is application audio; it does not replace the audio controls within each program. Its usefulness depends on how the foreground application is identified and on the audio produced by other running processes.
