About brightctrl
brightctrl is a lightweight tool for adjusting the brightness of external monitors through DDC/CI. It offers both an interactive terminal interface and a command-line mode for scripted control. DDC/CI is a control channel used by many external displays to receive settings such as brightness. On Windows, brightctrl uses the Monitor Configuration API to communicate with compatible monitors. Its native binary has no runtime dependencies. brightctrl is intended for users who want to control external display brightness from a terminal or automate it in scripts. The interactive and command-line modes support both manual adjustment and repeatable configuration. Compatible external displays can be adjusted interactively or through repeatable command-line calls.
