About calibre
calibre is a cross-platform manager for digital books. It catalogs an e-book collection with searchable metadata such as title, author, tags, and publisher, and lets users edit book details, convert between formats, and transfer books to e-reader devices. When a device requires a different format, calibre can convert the book during transfer. A built-in reader opens common e-book formats and supports bookmarks, highlighting, searching, and notes. The application can fetch metadata and covers, convert newspapers and online articles into e-books, and host a library through a content server so books can be read from other devices in a browser. It also includes an editor for EPUB and Kindle formats and a plugin system for extending its functions. calibre runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Its broad feature set suits readers who want to organize, convert, edit, and access a digital library from one application.
