About Cardinal
Cardinal is a free, open-source modular synthesizer available as an audio plugin and standalone application. Plugin formats include AudioUnit, CLAP, LV2, VST2, and VST3, and the standalone version runs on several desktop platforms and the web. It packages a modular synthesis environment and selected modules into a self-contained application. The software is based on a modular synthesizer framework, with core modules adapted to work in a plugin context. Users can build sound systems by connecting modules, then use Cardinal inside a digital audio workstation or run it independently. It does not load external modules or connect to the framework’s online module library, keeping its included environment self-contained. Cardinal is useful for musicians who want modular synthesis within common audio-production workflows.
