About CCExtractor
CCExtractor extracts closed captions and teletext subtitles from video streams and files. It analyzes video to produce separate subtitle files, allowing captions embedded in a recording to be reused or edited independently. Supported inputs include MPEG, H.264, MKV, MP4, DVDs, DVR recordings, and live television captures. The application can output subtitles in formats such as SRT, WebVTT, and SAMI, as well as transcript text. For bitmap-based subtitles, including DVB and teletext, it can use OCR to recognize the text. A graphical interface is included for users who prefer not to work only from the command line, and the software runs on Windows, Linux, and macOS. CCExtractor is useful for creating subtitle files from recordings that already contain caption data. The evidence does not establish support for every video codec or recognition accuracy. Its core workflow is analyzing video inputs and extracting captions or subtitles into separate outputs.
