About ChordPro
ChordPro converts plain-text input written in ChordPro format into lead sheets containing song lyrics and chord information. A lead sheet provides the words and chord changes musicians need to accompany a song, without requiring a full musical score with notation on a staff. Because the source is plain text, the song information can be edited in a text editor and then processed into a formatted sheet. ChordPro is intended for musicians who need a compact representation of lyrics and chords for rehearsal or performance. The tool follows a format used for describing this information in text. ChordPro is a rewrite of the older Chord and Chordii programs and focuses on generating staffless lead sheets. Its purpose is to turn structured lyric-and-chord text into a readable reference for musicians.
