About Cram

Cram is an archive utility that creates and extracts several archive formats, including ZIP, 7z, tar variants, ISO images, and its own deduplicating format; it can also read RAR archives. It uses the same basic operations across formats and identifies them from their contents rather than relying only on file extensions. Archives can be mounted as folders instead of extracted, and the tool can find duplicate files across drives. Additional features include recovery data, digital signatures, and resumable multi-connection file retrieval. A separate decoder can extract the tool’s own archive format. On Windows, mounting requires an optional system feature; the other archive operations do not. This makes Cram a broad archive workflow tool for inspection, creation, extraction, and recovery.
