About darkbright-helper
darkbright-helper controls monitor brightness in Windows through hotkeys and DDC/CI. It changes the monitor's hardware backlight from 100 percent down to 1 percent; when the display remains too bright at its minimum, a variable-opacity black overlay can dim it further. For multiple monitors, a hotkey affects the display under the mouse pointer. Monitors are identified by EDID so settings can persist after reconnecting displays or changing ports. An on-screen display shows the current value, and a tray icon presents per-monitor status and warnings. The tool does not perform network communication. It does not support laptop internal displays, and its overlay does not cover exclusive-full-screen games or some Windows system interface elements. darkbright-helper is intended for Windows users who need finer brightness control than a monitor's hardware setting provides.
