About DataPress
DataPress is an HTTP server that exposes Parquet and Delta datasets as typed APIs. It can serve data as JSON or Arrow IPC, allowing applications to query datasets in object storage through an HTTP interface rather than reading each file directly. A single binary includes both DuckDB and DataFusion engines and selects the configured backend at runtime. The server is configured through a datasets file, where the backend and dataset details can be specified. This supports a lightweight way to make analytical files available to downstream applications or services. DataPress is intended for serving structured analytical data, not for replacing a full data warehouse. The choice of engine affects how queries are processed, while the API outputs provide a common way for clients to consume results.
