About DeviceShelf
DeviceShelf is a local-first network scanner for discovering and identifying devices on a LAN. It can report device vendors, types, operating systems, and open ports, and provides per-device security checks for TLS, SSH, SMB, and HTTP. The application runs on the user’s computer; the description says network information stays local unless the user enables sharing. DeviceShelf can monitor presence and alert when an unknown device joins or a known one disappears. It also provides per-device bandwidth information. On Windows, Npcap is required and is not bundled; the x64 build depends on its `wpcap.dll` at startup. The product record lists macOS and Windows support. DeviceShelf is intended for users who want to inventory and monitor a local network. Its security report checks are informational and do not guarantee that a device is safe. The evidence establishes discovery, identification, port reporting, presence alerts, bandwidth data, and the Windows dependency.
