About dvload
dvload maps tabular data from Excel, often produced through Power Query, to Microsoft Dataverse tables and loads it through the OData Web API. It provides three front ends for the same mapping engine: an Excel task pane, a browser interface, and a command-line client. Mappings can be saved as portable JSON files, reused in another interface, or run unattended by the command line on a schedule. The tool supports lookup fields, including customer and owner columns, upserts using alternate keys, choice columns, and parent-before-child loading order. Batching with configurable parallelism can handle larger transfers, while checkpoints allow interrupted runs to resume. Sign-in normally uses delegated authentication without requiring an app registration; app-only authentication with a secret or certificate is available for scheduled jobs. These features make dvload useful for repeatable data loading and transformation workflows into Dataverse.
