About FileDO
FileDO is a Windows storage utility with both graphical and command-line interfaces. It can test USB drives and SD cards for falsely reported capacity by writing data and reading it back, and it can benchmark read and write speeds. It also finds duplicate files by content, compares folders and copies large directory trees with progress and timeout handling. For cleanup, FileDO can wipe free space or overwrite and remove individual files to make recovery harder. It warns that SSD behavior can limit the effectiveness of wiping. Emptying a folder requires typing a confirmation word. Files can also be packed into password-protected .fd-sec containers; an empty password provides obfuscation only, not secrecy. The tool supports .fdd virtual-disk containers that can be mounted as a drive or examined and exported without mounting. Mounting uses the Windows iSCSI initiator and requires administrator approval. FileDO clearly distinguishes encrypted containers from unencrypted obfuscation and is intended for storage testing, comparison and management.
