About Harzing's Publish or Perish
Harzing's Publish or Perish retrieves and analyzes academic citations to help researchers examine the reach of scholarly work. It collects citation records from publicly available data sources, then calculates a series of citation metrics from the retrieved material. Results can be viewed on screen, copied to the Windows clipboard for use in another application, or saved to a text file for later reference and further analysis. These output options make it possible to review the metrics directly or incorporate them into reports and research materials. The program is designed to support the presentation of research impact through citation analysis. Publish or Perish is intended for academics and other researchers who need to assess citation activity. Its role is to retrieve citation information and derive metrics from it, rather than to manage the underlying publications or make judgments about research quality. The available metrics depend on the citation data sources used.
