About Holdkey
Holdkey is a Windows dictation tool that types recognized speech into the currently focused application. The user presses and holds a key while speaking, then releases it to insert the transcription, allowing use in browsers, chat tools, terminals, editors, and email. Speech recognition runs locally on the computer’s CPU. An optional local rewrite model can remove filler words, false starts, and self-corrections while preserving the intended wording. The app works without an account or telemetry and does not upload speech. English is the default, with an optional multilingual recognizer covering 25 European languages. Holdkey supports both direct dictation and a cleaned-up text mode, depending on the chosen setting.
