About Inkscape
Inkscape is a vector graphics editor for creating artistic and technical illustrations. It supports work such as cartoons, clip art, logos, typography, diagrams, and flowcharts. Since vector artwork is defined by shapes and paths rather than a fixed grid of pixels, it can be resized or rendered at different resolutions while retaining sharp edges, making it useful for both screen and print work. The program uses SVG as its main file format and can import and export formats including AI, EPS, PDF, PS, and PNG. SVG is supported by many other applications, including web browsers, which makes it practical for exchanging and publishing vector artwork. Inkscape’s uses range from visual design to diagrams and other structured illustrations. Inkscape runs on GNU/Linux, Windows, and macOS. It is free and open source, supports multiple languages, and can be extended with add-ons. The evidence describes a broad graphics editor but does not enumerate the full set of drawing or editing tools; its central role is creating and exchanging vector graphics in SVG and other formats.
