About KanjiWidget
KanjiWidget is an offline Windows learning widget that keeps Japanese kanji and example sentences visible on the desktop. It is designed for background study: learners can encounter characters during ordinary computer use and review them through active recall and spaced repetition. Its FSRS scheduling is intended to bring learning items back for review over time, rather than presenting the same material at fixed intervals. Users can work with custom decks or import Anki package files, and the interface is available in English and Russian. Furigana readings accompany the displayed Japanese text, helping learners see pronunciation alongside kanji and examples. The application works offline and is described as having no ads, accounts, or subscriptions. Its combination of desktop visibility, review scheduling, and deck import supports repeated vocabulary practice without requiring a continuous internet connection.
