LAV Filters

About LAV Filters

LAV Filters is a set of open-source DirectShow filters for separating and decoding media streams. The filters use media parsing and decoding libraries to let compatible DirectShow players handle a broad range of audio and video formats. This makes LAV Filters a playback component that can be used by media applications relying on DirectShow, rather than a standalone player with its own library interface. The splitter identifies and separates streams in a media file, while decoders turn encoded audio or video into material the player can present. Which formats work depends on the files and on the filters installed and selected by the player. The package is intended to extend media playback compatibility in the DirectShow ecosystem.
