About mathom
mathom is a disk-space analyzer for Windows that scans a drive or folder and visualizes where storage is being used. Its interface includes a live-updating tree, a squarified treemap, a file-type breakdown, and instant search. The tree and treemap provide different ways to explore large directories and identify files or folders that account for substantial space. When run as administrator, mathom can read the NTFS Master File Table directly for faster scans. If that approach is unavailable, it can fall back to a portable parallel walker. This gives the tool two scanning approaches with different performance characteristics. The supplied description does not specify supported filesystems beyond NTFS for direct MFT access or explain how live updates work. Its purpose is visualizing and locating disk usage.
