About Mesen
Mesen is a high-accuracy emulator for Nintendo Entertainment System and Famicom games. It recreates the behavior of those consoles in software so compatible game data can be played on a Windows or Linux computer. Alongside playback, it includes features for controlling and inspecting a game session. Save states let users preserve a point in a game and return to it later. Video filters change the displayed image, while rewinding allows the player to move back through recent gameplay. Netplay supports multiplayer sessions over a network. The emulator also offers overclocking, cheat codes, and HD packs. Mesen includes debugging tools for homebrew development and ROM hacking, extending its role beyond gameplay to examining how a game operates. These features make it relevant to players as well as people developing or modifying NES software.
