About mp3rgain
mp3rgain adjusts the playback gain of MP3 and AAC files without re-encoding them. It modifies gain information stored in the audio frames, preserving the encoded audio rather than converting it through another codec pass. The command-line tool can analyze track or album loudness using ReplayGain and other listed measurement standards, write gain information into tags, and save an undo value that can be used to revert the change. Its options and tab-separated output follow the conventions of an established gain-adjustment utility, helping existing scripts continue to work. The supported AAC forms include M4A/MP4 and raw ADTS. It is intended for level analysis and volume normalization, not format conversion or audio editing.
