About NETGEAR Discovery Tool
NETGEAR Discovery Tool finds supported smart-managed network switches on a local network. It displays each discovered device’s IP and MAC addresses and can configure a device to use DHCP or a static IP address. This gives network administrators a way to locate compatible switches during initial setup and review their basic network identifiers without searching manually through a long address list. The tool is intended for discovery and basic network configuration of supported hardware, not general scanning of arbitrary network devices. Its results depend on the devices being connected to the same LAN or Wi-Fi network and on the network allowing discovery traffic. The displayed addresses provide a starting point for further management through the device’s own controls.
