About OpenPencil

OpenPencil is an open-source design editor that can open and save .fig and .pen files. It supports copying design elements between applications, and offers a chat-based way to create and modify design nodes using connected AI services. The editor includes reusable components and variants, tools for checking layouts and naming, design-token extraction, and conversion between supported formats. Selected designs can be exported as JSX and Tailwind code. The application supports both visual editing and programmatic workflows, including a command-line interface, query tools, an MCP server, and integrations for desktop agents. It also supports real-time peer-to-peer collaboration through WebRTC, with cursors, presence, and follow mode. OpenPencil is available as a desktop application on macOS, Windows, and Linux, and can also run as a progressive web app. It brings design editing, file compatibility, code export, and collaboration into one tool.
