About OpenScreen
OpenScreen records a computer screen and includes editing tools for turning a raw capture into a product demonstration or walkthrough. It can record a window or the whole screen, with microphone and system audio. In its timeline editor, users can zoom automatically or manually, add backgrounds or a webcam overlay, crop and trim footage, adjust speed, and add text, arrows, or image annotations. Motion blur is also available. Captions are transcribed on the device and remain editable. An optional AI assistant can apply edits described in chat, using the user’s own API key. Finished videos can be exported as MP4 or GIF. Rendering and encoding use the GPU, with automatic fallback to the CPU. OpenScreen combines capture, narration, visual editing, captions, and export in one desktop workflow for creating screen-based demonstrations.
