About OpenStorm
OpenStorm is an open-source 3D radar viewer built on Unreal Engine 5. It displays full radar volumes using a custom volumetric ray-marching shader, allowing users to view radar data as three-dimensional structures rather than only as flat maps or slices. The viewer is designed for exploring weather-radar information in a spatial context. Volumetric rendering can make the structure and extent of radar returns easier to examine. The supplied information does not specify data formats, radar networks, playback features, or analysis tools, so those capabilities are not assumed here. OpenStorm’s role is visualizing 3D radar volumes in an interactive application. The project is open source, and its rendering depends on the radar data supplied to it.
