About OpenWinSidecar
OpenWinSidecar turns an iPad into an additional wireless display for a Windows computer. It creates a virtual display that extends the computer’s desktop, encodes that display as HEVC video using Intel Quick Sync, and presents it in Safari on the tablet. The iPad can provide touch and keyboard input as well as show the extended screen, so it serves as both a viewing surface and an input surface for the desktop. The described setup does not require a separate client app on the iPad. This is useful when a portable second screen is needed over Wi-Fi and a compatible browser is available.
