About Oryx

Oryx is a keyboard-driven editor and reader for Markdown, source code, plain text, ebooks, and comics. It opens EPUB, FB2, MOBI, and AZW3 books and CBZ and CBR comics, in addition to text and code files. Its interface avoids panes, toolbars, and menus, with shortcuts available through an on-screen help list. Markdown is rendered in a GitHub-style layout, with syntax coloring for more than 100 languages and support for TeX mathematics. Themes can be customized and apply to both reading and PDF export. The application embeds fonts for Latin, Arabic, and Hebrew scripts and supports right-to-left books. It can handle large documents while keeping memory use steady as the reader scrolls. Oryx can edit Markdown and text files and writes back only lines that have changed. It is distributed as a single binary without a browser engine, runtime, or GPU requirement. The application requires no account and sends no telemetry; linked images in Markdown are the only items it downloads.
