About Palamedes
Palamedes is a backgammon-playing program that offers computer opponents for several variants, including Portes, Plakoto, Fevga, and Narde. It uses neural networks trained through temporal-difference learning and self-play to evaluate positions during play. Users can save and load games and use basic analysis tools to review positions. These features support both playing against the computer and examining a game after a match. Palamedes focuses on backgammon and related variants rather than general board games. The available variants and analysis depend on the game mode selected, while the computer’s play is based on the learned position evaluation used by the program.
