About pdf-next
pdf-next is a lightweight viewer for PDFs, images, and Markdown files. It follows the system dark-mode setting, supports text search, and renders TeX equations inside Markdown. When a file changes on disk, the viewer reloads it within about a second, supporting a fast edit-and-review cycle. The application is designed for LaTeX, Typst, and Markdown workflows where documents are repeatedly compiled and checked. A command-line interface can open a file at a specified page or figure, allowing an editor or other tool to direct the user to a relevant place. pdf-next combines document viewing with fast refresh and precise navigation. This supports rapid review while editing.
