About PortFinder
PortFinder identifies the network switch, port, and VLAN connected to a computer by listening for discovery packets already being broadcast on the network. It supports LLDP, CDP, and MNDP and does not need a login to the switch or SNMP access. A passive capture lasts about 30 seconds. PortFinder provides both a desktop interface and a headless command-line mode in one program. Capturing packets without administrator rights requires Npcap to be configured to allow non-administrator capture. The tool is focused on locating a computer’s wired switch connection from information available on the local network. Its capture runs directly on the connected network.
