About Purple Pen
Purple Pen is course-setting software for orienteering. It lets organizers design courses directly on OCAD, OpenOrienteering Mapper, PDF, or bitmap maps. The interface can show the course and control descriptions together, and course lengths are calculated automatically. It can also check that shared control codes and descriptions remain consistent across courses. The program creates map overprints, control-description sheets, reports, and IOF XML data for event-management or electronic-punching systems. It can calculate competitor loads at controls and legs, produce all-controls maps, and export course maps or PDFs. Purple Pen supports several international control-description standards and multiple description languages. It runs on Windows; Mac and Linux use requires a Windows emulator. Its features support course design from map setup through printing and event-data export.
