About Regard3D
Regard3D is an open-source structure-from-motion program that creates 3D models from photographs. Structure from motion analyzes images taken from different viewpoints to estimate the object’s shape and camera positions, then reconstructs a three-dimensional model. The application is intended for users who want to turn a series of photos of an object into a 3D representation. Taking images from multiple viewpoints provides the visual information needed for reconstruction. Regard3D connects photo input with 3D model creation in a desktop photogrammetry workflow. Users provide images of the same object from different viewpoints, and the program reconstructs a three-dimensional model from them. In structure from motion, overlapping views of the same object provide the visual clues used to infer its shape in three dimensions.
