About Relative
Relative creates shortcuts in Windows that use relative paths. A relative shortcut points to a location in relation to its own place in a folder structure, rather than depending on a fixed absolute location. Because the shortcut and target are linked through their relative positions, they can remain valid when the parent directory tree is moved together. This is useful when a group of folders needs to be relocated or copied while preserving links between items inside that structure. A shortcut that depends on a fixed location can break when the folder tree changes location; a relative one is intended to travel with its surrounding structure and still refer to the same place within it. Relative is a focused Windows utility for creating this type of shortcut. Its described purpose concerns links within a movable directory tree, not general shortcut management or file synchronization. The product’s value is maintaining a reference when the containing structure is moved as a unit.
