About Sailcut CAD
Sailcut CAD is a sail-design application that lets users design and visualize sails, then calculate the flat development of their panels. This translates a three-dimensional sail design into the panel shapes needed to cut material accurately. The software supports cross-cut, twist-foot, vertical, mitre and radial designs, as well as wing sails. A built-in viewer can combine a hull, rig and set of sails so users can inspect how the parts fit together. This connects the design of individual sails with a preview of their place on a boat. Sailcut CAD has been used for racing and cruising yachts as well as model boats. The application is written in C++ with Qt and is available in multiple languages. It is free software under the GNU General Public License, making its sail-design workflow accessible to people planning or studying sail construction.
