About sercat
sercat is a command-line serial terminal for communicating with devices through serial ports. It sends text entered by the user and displays received data, with configuration controlled through command-line options. This makes it suitable for direct interaction with equipment that exposes a serial connection. The program can display non-printable bytes in several ways: raw, as dots, escaped, or in full hexadecimal form. It can also send files, with optional escape parsing and pacing to control how data is transmitted. Input and output can be piped through standard input and output, allowing sercat to fit into shell workflows. sercat is intended for technical users who need a flexible serial console, including workflows that combine device communication with other command-line tools. Its features cover interactive text exchange, byte display, and file transmission.
