About sideband
sideband is a Windows utility for changing monitor settings through the DDC/CI control channel supported by many external displays. It can read or change brightness, contrast, volume, input source and colour presets from either the command line or the notification area. It is vendor-neutral and reports when a display cannot respond to a requested control. The same tool can arrange open windows into screen zones. If an arrangement is not useful, an undo action restores the previous window positions, linking monitor configuration with desktop layout management. The built-in laptop panel is not controlled through DDC/CI; its settings are handled by the display driver instead. sideband is a small standalone executable and does not require installation, a service, a driver or elevated privileges. It operates locally without network access or telemetry.
