About slipcase

slipcase is a command-line tool for attaching descriptive metadata to a file without modifying the payload itself. It packages one payload file together with a TOML description in a .slpc container, which is a ZIP archive. Copying or moving the container therefore carries the payload and its metadata together. The command-line tool provides pack, unpack, repack, info, and validate operations. Because the container format is specified independently and is based on ZIP, ordinary ZIP utilities can read it. This provides a portable way to keep a file and its description together. The supplied information notes that a separate desktop application exists for the same container format; this product is the CLI version.
