About Star Display
Star Display is a companion display for casual playthroughs of Super Mario 64. It reads game memory and automatically shows acquired stars, keys, and caps, while highlighting the current level with a yellow rectangle. This gives players an at-a-glance view of collected items and their location in the game without needing to navigate away from play. The program is aimed at casual playthroughs where tracking progress is useful. Its defining capability is automatically reflecting game state in a separate display, with the current level called out visually and collected items shown as they are acquired. The display supports progress tracking while the player remains focused on the game.
