About star_zip
star_zip is a Windows archiver for creating and extracting common archive formats. It can create ZIP, TAR, GZ, and TAR.GZ archives, and extract those along with 7z, RAR, TAR.BZ2, ALZ, and EGG files. Password-protected archives are supported, with a password requested when an encrypted item is actually extracted. The interface includes a folder tree, breadcrumbs, in-archive search, and drag-and-drop. Text and image entries can be previewed within the archive before extraction. Existing files are preserved unless the user chooses to overwrite them, and extraction paths are checked to prevent directory traversal. The utility can also detect and restore legacy Korean filenames. A command-line tool is included for scripted archive work.
