About step-agent
step-agent is a cross-platform daemon for device identity and certificate management. It enrolls devices and performs cryptographic attestation using hardware or operating-system identity sources, including TPMs, cloud identity and OS keystores. The agent manages the lifecycle of X.509 and SSH certificates for endpoints enrolled with the associated device-management platform. This can support automated credential issuance and renewal as managed devices connect to services. step-agent is intended for organizations managing endpoint identities and certificates. It provides the background component that handles enrollment, attestation and certificate maintenance across supported platforms. The daemon supports endpoint enrollment and certificate maintenance for managed devices. The attestation sources include TPMs, cloud identity, and operating-system keystores.
