About tether
tether is a Windows tray utility that links a PC with SSH hosts for clipboard, file, and tunnel workflows. Files or screenshots copied on either side can be transferred over SSH, with a remote file path returned to the local clipboard for convenient use in a terminal session. The application supervises SSH port forwards, keeping them alive and reconnecting automatically if a connection drops. It can also share local Android devices with a server through ADB and retrieve files placed in a server-side outbox directory. These functions connect local Windows tools and devices with remote machines. tether is intended for developers who work with remote SSH hosts and want clipboard, file, device, and tunnel operations integrated into the desktop. It requires the built-in Windows OpenSSH client and key-based authentication.
