About The Dude
The Dude is a network-monitoring application that discovers devices on specified subnets and draws a map of the network. It can monitor devices and links, check services, and notify administrators when a service has a problem. Supported checks include SNMP, ICMP, DNS, and TCP, and the application can graph link usage. Users can also draw their own maps, add devices, and customize icons and backgrounds. It can connect to a remote monitoring server through a local client and runs on Windows. Its purpose is network discovery and ongoing visibility, with checks depending on the services and devices available. It can monitor links separately from individual devices.
