About Thumbrella Server
Thumbrella Server generates thumbnails for online media through a simple HTTP API. It supports more than 100 formats, including photographs, video, documents, audio, 3D models, and other media. A client can request a thumbnail from a media URL, and the server returns an image suitable for display in a gallery or file browser. The server can be self-hosted and used through client libraries for browser applications, JavaScript environments, Python, and Rust, or through direct HTTP requests. Client libraries support batching, streaming, caching, and placeholders for failed thumbnail requests. Video thumbnails can be extracted from encoded frames, while other supported formats are rendered according to their media type. Thumbrella Server is intended for developers building galleries, file browsers, or applications that need previews for many kinds of media. It provides the rendering service while client components handle display and request workflows.
