About timeglyph

timeglyph decodes, encodes and identifies timestamps in the many formats used by computer systems. A timestamp can be represented in different units, epochs, time zones or encodings, so the same value may have several plausible interpretations. Instead of selecting one answer without qualification, timeglyph reports candidate interpretations ranked and scored with their assumptions. This makes ambiguity visible and helps analysts understand why a particular reading is plausible. timeglyph is intended for digital-forensics and technical analysis where timestamps need to be interpreted carefully. Its approach combines conversion with explicit confidence and assumption reporting. Showing several candidates helps retain uncertainty when the timestamp’s encoding or time basis is not known.
