About VeeCAD
VeeCAD is a computer-aided design tool for planning stripboard prototypes. Stripboard is a perforated circuit board with copper tracks that can be cut or bridged to form a circuit. VeeCAD gives engineers and hobbyists a way to plan component placement and wiring in software instead of working out the complete arrangement on graph paper. The workflow begins with a schematic drawn in the user’s usual schematic editor. The circuit can then be laid out in VeeCAD as a stripboard prototype. This helps translate a circuit design into a practical arrangement for a small build, where components and track connections must fit the available board. The application is intended for prototyping and low-quantity construction, particularly in cases where making a printed circuit board would be unnecessary or impractical. After prototyping, the same schematic can be used with a PCB editor for a printed circuit board design. VeeCAD therefore fits between schematic capture and physical construction: it helps plan a stripboard implementation while leaving the original schematic available for a later PCB workflow. Its focus is the layout of stripboard prototypes rather than general-purpose mechanical CAD or complete electronic design automation.
