VisualEther converts Wireshark PCAP network captures into sequence diagrams. It analyzes protocol exchanges recorded in a capture file and renders them as FDL diagrams using configurable Field Extraction Templates. These diagrams show communications as ordered interactions, which can help explain a protocol exchange in documentation or during troubleshooting. The workflow starts with a packet-capture file and uses an extraction template to determine which fields and messages appear in the diagram. The output is intended to be suitable for publication as well as technical investigation.
