About WIC for HEIC
WIC for HEIC adds support for opening HEIC and HEIF image files in Windows and compatible applications. WIC is the Windows Imaging Component framework used by programs to read and work with image formats. Adding support through this framework allows software that relies on WIC to open these image types. This can be useful when photos saved in HEIC or HEIF need to be viewed in Windows programs that do not handle the format by default. The product’s role is image-format support, so it extends compatibility for viewing or processing those files through applications that use Windows imaging components. It does not serve as a dedicated photo editor or organizer.
