About WSL USB Identity Manager
WSL USB Identity Manager helps distinguish identical physical USB devices when forwarding them to Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL). USB bus identifiers can change when hubs are re-enumerated, and some devices such as CH340 boards may not report a serial number. The tool identifies supported boards through hardware-specific identifiers instead. It can identify an ESP32 by its eFuse MAC address and a CH32 RISC-V device by its factory UUID through a WCH-Link. After identifying a device, the application can share, attach, or detach it for WSL. Matching devices can also be attached automatically when they arrive. The utility is intended for developers who use USB-connected boards in WSL and need a stable way to tell physical devices apart. It works with usbipd-win and focuses on device identity and forwarding actions, reducing dependence on changing bus IDs when working with several similar devices.
