About ✉➡🌍 Acastus-Photon
Acastus-Photon looks up an address, city, street, or point of interest and converts it to geographic coordinates. The resulting location can be opened in a map or navigation app or shared with another person. The app can also be launched by selecting an address in the Android contacts app, providing a direct route from a saved contact to a location lookup. Acastus-Photon performs its search online using a Photon server. The server software can be run by the user on their own infrastructure, allowing the lookup service to be self-hosted. The app’s role is to translate place names into coordinates and hand those coordinates to another app for mapping or navigation; it is not itself described as a navigation system. The supplied information does not describe the search ranking, offline lookup, or accuracy of results. Map and navigation use depends on the separate app chosen to open the coordinates.
