About ActiveProtect Agent
ActiveProtect Agent is installed on PCs, Macs, and physical servers that need to be backed up through the associated data-protection system. It provides the host-side component that enables the management platform to protect data across different kinds of devices. An agent on each target system allows a central backup environment to include endpoints and physical servers. This supports organizations that need to manage protection across a varied IT fleet rather than backing up only one type of computer. ActiveProtect Agent is intended for administrators who use the related backup platform to protect Windows, macOS, and server systems. Its function is to connect each target device with the central backup service; actual backup policies are managed through that service.
