About AdaptKey

AdaptKey is an Android keyboard that adapts to how a user taps and keeps its processing on the device. A per-key touch model adjusts hit detection to an individual typing pattern, and an optional calibration step can provide an initial adjustment. The keyboard supports configurable QWERTY and QWERTZ layouts, key proportions, a persistent number row, and long-press symbols. A personal dictionary powers suggestions and autocorrection. Optional language packs provide dictionaries for German, English, and Greek, with on-device language detection able to switch the lexicon. German capitalization rules are handled for sentence starts, nouns, hyphenated words, abbreviations, and other cases. Editing gestures include deleting a word, dismissing suggestions, blacklisting a suggestion, and changing case. An emoji panel supports recent items and keyword search. AdaptKey has no internet permission; dictionaries, language detection, autocorrection, and its optional mini language model run locally. The model is not bundled or downloaded by the app: users can import a model file through the system file picker. The model feature is opt-in and described as a work in progress. Learned words, settings, and a blacklist can be backed up and restored from a file. AdaptKey is free software under GPL version 3 or later and is under active development.
